Honoring Transitions & Endings

Field of aging dandelions

Traditionally September is a month of harvest and reflection. We look back on what we’ve seeded and we reap the benefits of what we have grown. This is the time of the year when we make the transition from summer to fall, we experience the equinox and move into the last quarter of the year, and we start to experience the change in weather and the amount of light in our day.

One of the things that I really want to ask all of us to do this September is to reflect on the dominant emotions in our life. How often do you wake up or move through your day in fear, lack, anger, “not-enoughness,” doubt, judgment, loss, and the list goes on…

We talk a lot in spiritual practice about manifestation, abundance, and change. We do meditations, movements, Breathwork, and blessings. We call in the things we want to manifest, the ways we want to be more abundant, and the ways we look to change.

Then why does it happen less than it should? What blocks our manifestations?

We cannot manifest, create abundance, or step into permanent change if we are living in the emotions of the past. Please bring into your awareness that every time you’re in an old emotion you have stepped out of the possible present and immersed yourself in the predictable past. This September I challenge you to recognize how often you are bound to those familiar emotions. Every time that you notice a historic feeling (hurt, sadness, depression, anxiety, judgment, doubt, shame, blame, etc.), stop where you are and stomp or rub your feet on the ground. Breathe long and deep. Take your fingers and rub them up your arms or down your legs. Ground yourself and get present.

This is the place where all possibilities lie. In the possible present moment.
